Geotechnical risk assessment for the travel lift pier construction at Altınova Shipyard, including analysis of pile installation impacts on the nearby offshore natural gas pipeline and evaluation of site soil and groundwater conditions.
Location: Altınova Shipyard, Yalova, Türkiye
As part of the travel lift pier construction project planned at Altınova Shipyard, driven piles are designed to be installed beneath the foundation system.
Considering the proximity of the BOTAŞ offshore natural gas pipeline, located approximately 145 meters from the proposed pier construction area, a comprehensive geotechnical risk assessment study was carried out to evaluate potential impacts arising from pile installation activities.
The geotechnical and site conditions of the study area were thoroughly examined and the potential effects on the existing pipeline were determined through detailed engineering analyses and calculation models.
Scope of the Study:
• Evaluation of current site and construction area conditions
• Ground investigations and soil characterization studies
• Development of idealized soil profile and assessment of groundwater conditions
• Determination of geotechnical design parameters
• Risk assessment of pile driving effects on the offshore natural gas pipeline
